Vermicompost : Nature's Finest Fertiliser

Nutrient-rich organic bio-fertiliser produced through controlled earthworm composting, the sustainable alternative to chemical fertilisers.

Sky Ridge Exim exports premium vermicompost produced by Eisenia fetida (Red Wiggler) earthworms feeding on pre-composted organic waste. The result is a dark, crumbly, humus-rich soil amendment that improves soil structure, nutrient availability, and microbial activity. Ideal for organic farms, horticulture nurseries, landscaping projects, and home garden brands worldwide.

Why Vermicompost

The Soil Amendment That Outperforms Chemicals

Vermicompost delivers nutrients in a slow-release, plant-available form while rebuilding the biological health of depleted soils. No burn risk. No runoff contamination.

Improves Soil Structure

Increases soil porosity, aeration, and water-holding capacity. Transforms compacted clay and sandy soils into productive growing media within one season.

Slow-Release Nutrients

NPK, calcium, magnesium, and trace minerals released gradually as plants need them. No nutrient burn, no leaching, no groundwater contamination.

Microbial Powerhouse

Contains billions of beneficial bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes that suppress soil-borne diseases and enhance nutrient cycling in the root zone.

Boosts Plant Growth

Plant growth hormones (auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins) naturally present in vermicompost stimulate root development, flowering, and fruit set.

Water Retention

Holds up to 9 times its weight in water. Reduces irrigation frequency by 30–40%, critical for drought-prone regions and water-conscious farming operations.

Carbon Sequestration

Adds stable organic carbon to soil. Farms using vermicompost contribute to climate change mitigation by locking carbon in the soil rather than the atmosphere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Vermicompost Export FAQ

Answers to what international buyers ask most. Need specifics? Contact us directly.

What is the minimum order quantity?

The minimum order for vermicompost export is 500 kg. For recurring contracts, we recommend 5 tons or above to optimise container space and freight costs. Vermicompost is a heavy, bulky product, shipping economics improve significantly at scale. We can arrange smaller evaluation samples (25–50 kg) for lab testing before committing to bulk.

Are there import restrictions on vermicompost?

Yes, many countries classify compost as an agricultural product subject to biosecurity regulations. The key requirements typically include a phytosanitary certificate from India, heat treatment or irradiation documentation in some cases, and absence of live organisms (worms are removed during harvesting). Requirements vary by destination. We handle all documentation and can advise on specific country regulations. Always confirm with your local import authority before ordering.

Does the vermicompost contain live worms?

No. Worms are separated during the harvesting and sieving process and returned to production beds. The finished product is worm-free. This is critical for export, as most importing countries prohibit the introduction of live earthworms. Our sieving and drying process ensures no live organisms remain in the packed product.

What is the NPK content of your vermicompost?

Typical NPK range is N: 1.0–1.8%, P₂O₅: 0.8–1.5%, K₂O: 0.8–1.2%. These values vary slightly between batches depending on feedstock composition. Every shipment comes with a lab-tested nutrient analysis report. We can also test for secondary nutrients (calcium, magnesium, sulphur) and micronutrients (zinc, iron, manganese, boron) on request.

Can you supply organic-certified vermicompost?

Our standard vermicompost is produced using 100% organic inputs, no chemicals at any stage. For formal organic certification (NPOP India Organic, USDA Organic, EU Organic), we can arrange supply from certified production units. Certified batches require advance notice of 4–6 weeks and minimum order of 5 tons. Transaction certificates provided.

How is vermicompost different from regular compost?

Regular compost is decomposed by thermophilic (heat-loving) bacteria. Vermicompost is processed through the digestive system of earthworms, which produces a finer, more nutrient-dense product with significantly higher microbial diversity. Studies show vermicompost contains 5–7x more beneficial bacteria and fungi than thermal compost. It also contains plant growth hormones (auxins, cytokinins) that thermal compost lacks.

What moisture level is best for export?

For export, we dry the product to 15–20% moisture, low enough to prevent mould and reduce shipping weight, but high enough to keep microbial populations alive. Standard production moisture is 25–35%. If you need a drier product (below 15%), we can accommodate this, but extremely low moisture may reduce microbial viability. We recommend discussing optimal moisture for your specific end-use.

What are the shipping terms and lead time?

Standard payment: 30% advance, 70% against shipping documents. Shipping terms: FOB, CIF, CFR available. Lead time is 15–25 working days from advance payment for production, drying, testing, and packing. Ocean freight adds 20–35 days depending on destination. A 20ft container holds approximately 18–20 tons of vermicompost in 50 kg bags or 16–18 tons in jumbo bags.
